The Anambra State House of Assembly has
confirmed five out of six Commissioner
Nominees sent to it by Governor Willie
Obiano for consideration and approval.
The Commissioner Nominees are Mr. Frank
Offor – Orumba South, Mr. Afam Mbanefo –
Nnewi North, Dr. Mrs. Mary Nwogu –
Aniocha, Mr. Mark Okoye – Dunukofia,
Princess Chinwe Nwaebili – Ogbaru and
Mrs. Amaka Ilobi – Ihiala.
Consequently, during cross examination by
Hon. Chugbo Enwezor, the member
representing Onitsha North 1 in the State
House of Assembly, Mr. Mark Okoye was
discovered to be under the constitutional
age of thirty; hence his confirmation was
differed to June when he will clock thirty.
According to the Governor’s letter to the
State House of Assembly, all the
appointments will take effect as from June,
when they will take oath of office.
You will recall that Princess Chinwe
Nwaebili is the incumbent Speaker of
Anambra State House of Assembly whose
tenure will elapse in June this year.
