Author Guidelines for Reflections
Reflections, which appears in every issue of AJN, is a forum for previously unpublished, personal essays exploring any aspect of nursing, health, or health care. While most are insightful first-person accounts of memorable nursing experiences, we don't restrict the form or content. Authors may be nurses, patients, family members, or creative writers-and may write on any topic that enhances our understanding of nursing or health care. Our stories enlighten us, help us grow, and move us forward in our profession. Reflections offers you a chance to share your story. To view samples of Reflections, go to:

AUTHORS
Most Reflections authors are nurses, but we also welcome submissions from other health care workers, from patients, from public officials-from anyone who offers insight into nursing practice, health, or health care.
LENGTH
Reflections is one printed page, 800 to 850 words (approximately three typed, double-spaced pages). While we may review manuscripts that are slightly longer, these must be edited to the appropriate length if accepted for publication. Manuscripts over 1600 words will not be considered.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Please use fictional names for all persons and institutions in your story. Locations may also have to be disguised.
HONORARIUM
AJN pays a $150 honorarium to authors of published Reflections.
SUBMISSION
The preferred method of submission is as a Word document via the Internet at http://ajn.edmgr.com. To accommodate blinded peer review, do not place authors’ names anywhere in your submission. Authors will enter their information directly into the website and it will remain linked with their manuscript. This is a secure site; AJN editors control access to all submissions.
For questions about submitting a manuscript, contact Alison Bulman at (646) 674-6602, or at alison.bulman@wolterskluwer.com.
For queries about the journal’s interest in your manuscript, contact the coordinator of Reflections, Veneta Masson at masson@erols.com .
