My showstopper competition piece at Cakeology
2018
A mammoth task I'd undertaken considering it was
a showstopper. I'd tried to incorporate as many
different techniques as possible to bring the central
concept to life.
Stories are such a big part of our culture.
Mythology, sacred texts, history are all written or
told in the form of stories. These stories are
manifest in the various art forms all over India. And
Krishna is one such Icon who has influenced every
art form in every part of the country.
LEELA
Krish~na - The dark one, the all attractive one or
the absolute truth !
No Indian art or craft is complete without a
magnificient display of the Krishna consciousness.
Whether it is the Temple Sculptures or traditional art
forms, like Tanjore, Kerala Mural art, Kalamkari,
Patachitrakatha, granite sculptures of Karnataka,
Cheriyal of Telangana or Rajasthan miniatures, even
the Bishnupur depiction of krishna leelas into
weaving of Sarees, you name it, there is no native
art or folk form without a Krishna theme.
Over many centuries Krishna has become an
integral part of the Hindu society, as much as the
Bhagawat Geetha & Mahabharatha. Painting, music,
dance, and theater were the visual, aural and kinetic
counterparts of this powerful and all pervasive
movement, the "Krishnatattva ".
It has captured the imagination of artists from
different geographic regions of this subcontinent,
divided by huge variations in regional and local
subcultures, a diversity that is so integral to the
Indian society, yet united by universally adopting
this theme of Krishna into their own culture.
Today this theme is being extended and adopted to
the cake art form too, for the sheer opulence,
vibrancy, variation & cheerfulness it depicts, a
celebration of life itself, so colourful, integrating &
embracing all forms of life into its fold, that it can
only be truly representative of a universal
consciousness of love, truthfulness, righteousness,
pragmatism and worldly wisdom.
**All the techniques used are explained in the
individual photos
Unfortunately there were some areas which I
couldn't finish in time and they remained
underworked.

If at age 30, you're not yet married, and you're still
waiting for one man somewhere to come and marry
you before you can start living your life....
This may sound harsh, but
....you're being mean.
1. You're being mean for letting yourself down and
not taking proper care of and enjoying the one life
God gave you. For letting your life be a source of
discouragement to others who will go through
similar life's challenges and delays.
2. You're being mean for denying your family and
friends and those in your sphere of influence,
months of unique assistance and testimonies with
the impact you would've made by being your best
self and living your best life now.
3. You're being mean for being passive and just
letting this life happen to you and allowing the
streams of life carry you along with those dead
woods whose life stories and Testimonies paint the
picture of a God who's both callous and unjust.
4. You're being mean for not believing in your
potentials to get a life for yourself thereby
positioning yourself to be a potential heavy
baggage awaiting someone else's son who himself
may also be praying for a suitable helper.
5. You'll continue to be mean to yourself and others
if you'll not decide today to alter the course of 2019
by taking the pen of life from the hands of your
enemies and writing your story by yourself so
others can see the light of life through you.
May God help you.

This has always intrigued me since I have always
been an artist and an illustrator. I am very visual in
conversation and memory since I was very young. I
wonder if most children have the same thing? Do
we loose that ability as we grow up? Story telling
has been used by ancient man and painting on cave
walls was another way of telling a story. Children's
books illustrate stories. Do children visualize easily
when listening to a story? Many adults have a hard
time listening to a conversation and retaining what
had been said.

I think I was rescued as an abandoned child by the
world of folk tales. Knowing that the youngest, the
poorest and the weakest can become a winner
stayed with me. We were very poor and i had this
one story book what I was reading again and again,
" The 77 Hungarian Folktales". As a therapist I have
been reading legends folk tales, particularly to
Aboriginal children. They seems to have a real
appreciation of the morals of the stories.

Dr. Dan Siegel
Parents know how powerful storytelling can be when
it comes to distracting their kids or calming them
down, but most people don't realize the science
behind this powerful force. The right side of our
brain processes our emotions and autobiographical
memories, but our left side is what makes sense of
these feelings and recollections. Healing from a
difficult experiences emerges when the left side
works with the right to tell our life stories.
When children learn to pay attention and to share
their own stories they can respond in healthy ways
to everything from a scraped elbow to a major loss
or trauma.

AAC PARTY

Posted: 09 May 2019 09:08 AM PDT

Press Statement: Dissolution of the Lagos Executive
Committee of AAC
On the 8th day of May 2019, members of the Lagos
State Branch of the African Action Congress (AAC)
converged at the state secretariat of the Party and
passed a successful motion of no-confidence on
the existing leadership of the Party in the State, and
subsequently set up a Caretaker Committee. This
step was in consonance with the provisions of the
Party's constitution under sections 76(4) and 78.
The Caretaker Committee will work in active
collaboration with the national body of the African
Action Congress (AAC) to effectively bring the
values and beliefs of the Party to the people of
Lagos, and to actualise a true revolutionary change
that has been elusive in Lagos since the return of
democracy in 1999.
The Caretaker Committee is constituted as captured
below:
Adekunle Ajayi – Chairman
Tope Gbeke - Deputy Chairman
Omolara Alagbala - Women Leader
Banwo Olagokun – Organising Secretary
Moyo Adekanmbi - Financial Secretary
Jamiu Jamo Towolawi – Secretary
Musa Oluwasheyi – Treasurer
Ayinde Olawale - Youth Leader
Elias Ozikpu – Publicity Secretary
The Committee will remain active until fresh
elections are conducted at the AAC Lagos State
Congress slated to hold in October of 2019.
We ask the people of Lagos to throw the full weight
of their support behind AAC, as the Party works to
collaborate with them to wrestle Lagos from the
resolute grip of the oppressors after twenty
disastrous years.
The time is now!
Take It Back!
Signed:
Elias Ozikpu
Publicity Secretary, African Action Congress, Lagos

Morning Tea

Posted: 09 May 2019 09:07 AM PDT

MORNING TEA. THE WORD
FOR TODAY
TUESDAY MAY 7, 2019.
"ENCOURAGEMENT FOR SINGLE PARENTS"
"Lift the boy up and take him by the hand…for I will
make him…great."
Genesis 21:18 NIV
WHEN YOU read the story of Hagar and her son
Ishmael, you realize how much God cares about
single parents. Although Abraham was Ishmael's
father, he sent the boy and his mother away without
child support: "[He] took some food and a skin of
water …gave them to Hagar…and…sent her off…She
went on her way and wandered in the desert" (v. 14
NIV). In many ways Hagar typifies those who walk
through the desert of past mistakes, shame,
abandonment, and fear of starting over. The Bible
tells us when "the water in the skin was gone, she
put the boy under one of the bushes. Then she…
sat…about a bowshot away [50-60 feet], for she
thought, 'I cannot watch the boy die.' And…she
began to sob." (vv. 15-16 NIV). As a single parent
you may be tired and lonely. Humanly speaking,
you've done the best you can with what you have,
but you've nothing left to give. The good news is
God's divine resources are inexhaustible: "He gives
strength to the weary and increases the power of
the weak" (Isaiah 40:29 NIV). "God heard the boy
crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from
heaven…'Lift the boy up…I will make him…great'…
Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of
water" (Genesis 21:17-19 NIV). God loves your
child even more than you do, and when you turn to
Him, He'll show you a "well of water" you never
knew existed. He has plans for your children, so
encourage them and lift them up. The God who
made Hagar's child "great" can do the same for
yours!
