Foursquare Leader Weekly: Adjust your focus Posted: 20 Apr 2020 03:00 AM PDT You are receiving Foursquare Leader Weekly because you subscribed to either the Foursquare Leader Update or Foursquare Leader Prayer emails. This email will provide both encouragement and resources each Monday through the COVID-19 pandemic.      Exiled on Patmos, John was in lockdown. The last apostle’s public ministry was over, but his prayer ministry was thriving under persecution. He was “in the Spirit” when a trumpet-like sound rocked him (Rev. 1:10, NIV).  Turning around, John saw an overwhelming display of Jesus. John’s legs buckled as he saw Jesus’ face “like the sun shining in all its brilliance” (Rev. 1:16). Once, while picturing this scene, I asked: “Lord, why did You appear behind John? Why not come down out of the clouds or walk across the water? Why use the ‘back door’?” Why did God appear where John would have to adjust to see Him? John had to turn around to recenter and position himself for a fresh vision of the One he loved.  When we step aside from our activities (even good ones), we experience an adjusted focus, a new view of the One who reigns over us and everything else.  Turn your eyes upon Jesus today, even if that means turning your back on everything that currently distracts you. Allow your focus to be shifted, and soak in His presence.  By: George* (name withheld for security reasons), Foursquare Missions International area missionary to South Asia     Take a few moments to seek the Lord by reflecting and praying using these prayer points: 1. The world needs to see Jesus on full display! Pray for a fresh Holy Spirit revelation and a compelling demonstration of the body of Christ. Turn aside from your activities and gaze upon Him. Ask the love of Jesus to come to the nations and peoples of the earth during these uncertain times. 2. Lockdown means that many in developing nations are without basic necessities. Pray for the crisis, distress, isolation, need and hopelessness of people. Thank God for His provision in your life. Lift your voice because we know that “the Lord hears His people when they call to Him for help. He rescues them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed" (Ps. 34:17-18, NLT). 3. Please pray for God to miraculously halt the spread of COVID-19, and for people to turn their faces to Him in thanks. Ask for God’s mighty healing for those who are sick. Pray for comfort for those who have lost loved ones. Ask the Lord to be with those who are alone in the hospital, and for wisdom and supernatural strength for caregivers and medical workers.       The Foursquare Global Prayer Network (FGPN) mobilizes Foursquare churches around the world to set aside one day each month and create a prayer chain on that lasts 12 or 24 hours.
